Gua Sha is a Chinese medicine healing technique used to treat muscle tension, break down of connective and scar tissue. As a result it also increases circulation and improves joint movement.
A specific tool is used to provide pressure to the area with a scraping motion. Consequently the technique often causes redness with purple spots. This occurs due to tissue restrictions being released, which allows for blood flow in the area.
Gua Sha is also used on the face with a more gentle approach.
Gua Sha facial treatments encourage lymphatic drainage, boost blood flow and relieve muscle tension.
